Default First Template - Blue Babies

Hi

I've just designed my first template for Mambo and wondered what you experts thought of it. Site address is www.imagemagazine.co.uk and you can download the template if you want to.

The template uses an embedded font which is only viewable in IE. If you download the template you'll notice that I've removed most of the text from the banner image for your convenience

Thanks

in IE realy nice ... but I don't like the use of embeded fonts ... it's not nice for me to know that if someone see my website with another browser it will look different ...

The background images make an efect that seems to be a little broken, I'ld have use an more fitting ripetitive image for not have the broken efect ...

ehi ,but this are just my little opinion ... and uaked to the experts :P

See you nice start

The font is embbeded into the template. With CSS you can load custom font files and they will shown during the runtime only. So no need to worry about problems.

Nevertheless personally I prefer to use system fonts as they are much more readable. Another hint would be to smoothen the background a little bit. I think it's too wild.

Just my 2 cents. I will publish this on Mamboportal.com today and hope to see more in the future...

Thanks for your quick responses and thanks for adding my template to mamboportal

I chose to use an embedded font just to give it a little extra something fully aware that my page would look different in non IE browsers. I generally test in Mozilla, Opera and NS and was happy with how it looked without the font so to me this wasn't a problem. System fonts are easier to read but I wanted a babyish handwritten font for the menu items and headers just to continue the theme (I know the font isn't that babyish but it was the best I could find that I could embed).

You are both absolutely right about the background image - I've softened it a little bit but my graphic design skills aren't great! Everytime I tried to make the image a little more repetitive I ended up with a really sinister floating baby head I'll possibly get round to fixing that when I get a little more time.

Once again thanks for your constructive comments
