Exclamation assign group to new access level.

How do I attach a new group to a new access level? I now have 4 levels of access, (public, registered, special, owners) but the 4th level isn't accessable by any users yet.

I've added a new access level labeled "Owners" to the table "mos_groups" And it shows up fine in the "access level" settings. And it functions in that users can't see the content.

I also added a new group labeled "OwnersGroup" to the table "mos_core_acl_aro_groups" table. (group_id: 32, parent_id: 29)

I've also taken a look at the "Login validation function" in the "mambo.php" file, which set's the the gid's, that's where I am at this point.

[code]// fudge Authors, Editors, Publishers and Super Administrators into the Special Group
$row->gid = 2;
[code]

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Moin

This feature is on my wishlist too ~> more frontend-groups (access-level); not in every case with the permission to add/edit/... articels. I mean permission to various areas. Background is a website for a company I have to "create" with areas for customers, members, the lower and higher management, ...

Hi Myles

Your solution is not an access restricted solution.
That's right >> only authorized user can see the link.
But in case I know the link I can type it into my browserline ... and I'll see what I want .

Umm.. It is a access restricted solution. Just make sure u do this....

To secure the component / item the module links to, you must assign this component / item with the correct access restrictions as well!

I have edited my origonal post to reflect your comments.

Sorry if I did not make this clear enough.

Thanks.

Hi Myles

Sry, I think you made this clear enough - I had only a look at your hack ... not long enough, because I did'nt install and change my #_groups-table.

It's of shure a good idea an a way ... I'll look for the upcoming next main version .
