Frontpage news items

Hi,

I've setup a Joomla powered site and would like to reduce the number of concurant news items on the frontpage down to just 1.

I know in the old 4.5.0 version of Mambo this was in the modules section but I can't work out how to do it in Mambo!

There's a new Frontpage manager but this only lets me change the order of items.

I found this article: http://www.drmartinwilliams.com/docm...age-items.html which sounded promising but there is no 'frontpage' in my main menu sub-menu!

Help is MUCH appreciated.

I wouldn't mind if you guys took a look at the site to - it's the web side of a youth buisness project.

Hi guys!

UPDATE! I found it!!!

Basically (for anyone else who has this problem) instead of looking for 'Frontpage' in the mainmenu list, look for 'Home'.

I do still have two questions / problems though.

Firstly, since setting up the above, one of my news items can't be read. I get 'You are not authorized to view this resource.
You need to login.' This happens whether I'm logged out or in (as admin!) despite the fact that I've set the item and all the categories / sections it's in to Public!!!

My second question is how to I update to Joomla 1.0.4? (currently running 1.0.3). I've downloaded the '1.0.3 to 1.0.4 patch' and have the files uncompressed. Do I just overwrite the existing files? Will this skrew up the site if I have components installed?

hey i saw u r site...... nice work....... try to put some animations to get it cool attraction............................. and also i think there is a space in the top......... ( Top margin ) its little uncomfortable..... try to keep it a little space............ you use cool colours.......thats nice.

Yeah I hear you on the top margin, I'll reduce it to match the bottom when I get a second.

I have a few ideas for animation that could really liven things up as you said. Again, when I get a bit of time I'll get that going as well

The main thing I need to concentrate on is getting some content! We don't have much going on at present but there should be soon...

There's also a couple of bugs (like a viewing permissions thing on one of the news posts - despite it being setup so that anyone SHOULD be able to view it... and the 'Next' news button at the bottom of the page).
