Default .htaccess override

I have a site that works correct locally. In the thread http://forum.mamboserver.com/showthread.php?t=79 I completed everything but .htaccess override where you try "Redirect /google.html http://www.google.com". This didn't work but my SEO URL's worked fine so I didn't worry.

But now when I uploaded the site to the remote server (webmin) everything is the same as it was locally but now it doesn't work. When I click a link I get a "page cannot be found" in ie and "[an error occurred while processing this directive]" in firefox.

I cannot figure out the problem I think it may have to do with .htaccess override. I am using Xaneon Alias Manager 1.0.3a for SEO friendly URL's and Mambo 4.5.2. Does anyone have any ideas I would really appreciate it.
