Default Submenu in a separate module?

Hi,

is there a way to create a module that always shows the submenu of a selected menu item?

The Goal is to have a simple horizontal menu bar (like in akogreenportal template). This shows no submenus. My idea now was to have a module running (e.g. in the user1 spot) that displays the submenu links when I select a site in the horizontal main menu. Did I get it across what I am thinking of? Sometimes my English is getting a little rusty

Make an example: I have in my main menu: "News" - "Products" - "Support".
The user clicks on "Products" and in a module (e.g. in a column on the left side) he sees links to "Shoes" - "Pants" - "Shirts" - "T-Shirts" - "Bodywear" ...

In this way I could integrate the cool horizontal bar and still have submenus (same could be to use YTW mycssmenu with no submenu dropdown)

Anyone an idea?

Regards

Yes it is possible.

You could get the module to detect what page it is on and from there determine from what menu the module should pull its submenu items from.

This sounds like I have to learn php first. If any of You programmers sees something interesting in that and would develop something like this I would be happy.

Otherwise I will come back when I found he solution myself..

i will add this to my 'possible projects' list. Wont promise anything.

I am looking to expand my Display Menu module family, so I might be able to create a solution. I already have the code that pulls different data from the database depending on the page it is on (the set_auto parameter in the Display News module engine).

Anyway, i'll see how it goes

I am preparing a module that will do just this.... it is already being used at a site of mine... check it out and let me know if you like what you see.

You can do that with the mycsssplit menu. These are not modules, but variables you place where you want in your template

This can help in between

Thanks!
This is my first module and it's mainly just a copy and modification of the main menu... but it does the trick... check it out: mod_coolHandsubmenu

Any feedback is appreciated!
