I am so excited about how phpBB works well with Mambo. I finally decided to keep phpBB seperate from Mambo as far as not integrating the site into the interface, but keeping the usernames and passwords the same.
This site uses the phpBB component and works flawlessly. Guest can click on Create one on the Mambo site or Register on the phpBB site. They sign up and it works. The user can bounce back and forth between sites being logged in. Users can log in either through Mambo or phpBB to log into both sites. When the user logs off, Mambo and phpBB is logged off. I did not like phpBB within the Mambo interface. It just did not look good at all. But I did figure out a way to make phpBB look similar to the Mambo site by adjusting the subGreen template of phpBB.
Mambo is set using a modified DarkStar2. phpBB is set using a modified subGreen template. I love how the site operates and how it goes from one to the other without any problems.
I will advise anyone who wants an awesome bulletin board to use the phpBB and Mambo together. It imported the usernames without any problems when I already had 150 members on Mambo and 10 members on phpBB. Integration went well. I just wanted to say that it worked and this is the best integration of any software out there.
The next integration script I am looking for is:
All working together...
Mambo 4.6 (multi-site version)
All of these integrations should allow the administrator to choose whether or not the scripts be integrated within the Mambo interface or in its own interface, but the most important thing is that they share username/passwords and also login on either script to switch from program to program without logging in again. Log out and it logs out of every script. I believe this is possible.
