Default From Postnuke To Mambo

Hi all,

I'm using Postnuke as CMS platform at the moment. I read a few tests about CMS systems and saw Mambo has very high ratings. I checked out what modules are available, but I miss some which I really need. Perhaps they exist, but I don't found them...

- A Flashgames Module
- A Forum
- Integration of Menalto Gallery
- Newsletter Functionality
- A own dictionary

Perhaps anybody can tell me what are the arguments to change from Postnuke to Mambo?

Greets and thanks anyway,
Andy

I just found this for you:

Converts a PHP-Nuke 6.8 userbase to a Mambo OS one. Finally the Nuke era is over

The flashgames module I haven't found yet but. Forum, integration of Menalto, Newsletter and dicitionary (Glossary) isn't a problem.

I am an old PostNuker and recently switched to Mambo and haven't looked back. Actually I'm now building a portalsite with mambo for one of my projects and all the functionality I want is there

Thanks a lot for the links. I'm a real PN fan, but I heard from Mambo and want to try out... The only prob I see with PN is that PN is little mess and that's annoying..

If mambo is more organised and can display the contens in a same way and fit the same things which I use in PN I think I'll change...

Does that script works with PN-User-DB's too? Is there any way to convert a PN theme to a mambo-theme?

Greets and big thanks again!

Just thought I'd add my voice to this topic. I evaluated a number of different CMS systems including PHPNuke, PostNuke and Drupal. Each one had it's strengths but Mambo came out as the clear winner in the end. I'm now busy completing my third website using Mambo and it has not yet failed to please.

The script will probably not work. As PN has superseeded PHPNuke by miles since the fork and it's quite different now...

Regarding the PN Theme actually I think it won't be a problem but it's a bit handson.. if you have the PSD or such for the layout it will be easier. THere is a Dreamweaver addon to make mambotemplates.. I haven't tried it but I guess it will be rather simple to do... Depends on if it's a xanthia, regular och autotheme.. autotheme would be simples I think

Talking Re: From Postnuke To Mambo

The Dreamweaver extension is really helpful. It allows you to enter the PHP code into a template wihtout having to remember the code. As for converting The Theme just save it as an HTML file (or if you have the PSD as mentioned before) just pop in the code, Really simple. Just make sure you have a good CSS editor for MAMBO Mambo is by far the best Open source CMS out there.

Good Luck Mamber

Wow, it seems to be that mambo has a strong user community.. Thanks for the many answers...

For the old PN users: Where do you exactly see the advantages of Mambo against PN?

About Theming: Is it possible to build a simmilar theme for mambo like I use now for PN. Please take a look at my current page: http://www.psychoactive.ch

@shadoe: The flashgames module isn't the real importest thing for me. But in general I hope Mambo can cover the features I've installed at my current PN site...

Thats a hard one. I dont dislike Postnuke at all - I have several sites still using it and I won't be changing them either. I would suggest you try it out and see for yourself. But when I got the job to do a local community portal the other day I went with Mambo.

I cant see why it wouldnt work. If you check the current templates available for Mambo you'll find similar...

Ok... I've checked your site. News and static content is not a problem in mambo. There are filerepositories (upDownload) and games. Chat, forum, gallery, newsletter, and lexikon. So I dont think we have any problems
