Default Upgrade was a mess. Site down. Help.

I tryed to upgrade but it was a disaster. Site didn't worked. Tryed to come back with the backup SQL but now some components are missed....

I follow the instructions on the manual but ill i got is a mess. The manual say to upgrade to a new directory, run the SQL upgrade but some people say to write over the old instalation on FTP.

What do i have to do?

Where can i see a step by step?

tks a lot

My upgrade was somewhat bumpy but I managed to get the site up and running, albeit with some unexpected behaviors.

In anticipation of the upgrade I made a copy of the entire directory on the webserver using ftp. I also made a backup of the data and structure of the database through the System | Backup option in 4.5.0.1.0.9.

With these two in hand I proceeded as follows: 1) I copied all the new files over to the existing directory. 2) Ran the sql file to do whatever changes are needed to the database. 3) Started running into compatibility problems with some of the components and modules (which I strongly suggest you check in the Forum beforehand to see which work and which don't)

The new release is indeed quite nice but there are some rather interesting changes to the way parameters are set. You will not see some menu items in the same area where they were before and some are not even there! I somehow was under the impression that this would only take place in the next release (4.6)

I think I will wait until things settle down before moving the other sites to the new code though.

I made a backup also, but its too big and i am getting time out everytime i try to put the tables back...

When i finally made it, some components, like front page are not appearing at the administrator of my old mambo.
