Default can Latest News module show news from a specific category

Is it possible to show only from a specific category in the "lates news" module only ?

Thanks in advance

A simple answer no

However, I have a solution for you. Try out my Display News - Latest module.

It allows you to specify a specific category and so much more, like:
text scrolling,
aility to show date, author , intro text, etc

Think the latest news module on 'steriods'

Read here for information on it and where to download it:
http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=11237

Please read the online readme or you won't know how to use the parameters (there are 57).

For more insight in how to use it:

Actually....the simple answer is YES.

[I know I am just a Baby mamber, but I am pretty sure I am right. ]

The Latest News Module accepts catid= for a PARAMETER...just enter the Category ID number of the category you want.

But, Stingreys is probably cooler anyway!

Oops I'm so busy peddling that I'm starting to give out misinformation. Yep Jason is right you can specify the category, what you can't do with the original latest news is show items from a section (and a whole host of other things)
