Here is a question / situation that I am hoping someone has an idea for.
Before I go in and hack away at the core, I'd rather bounce this off of the board to see if anything sticks!
I have a web site with 2 templates. The first template is for only the "homepage". This "Homepage" will only load by default when "Home" is in the main menu as the first item. The homepage main menu does not need a link for "home" because the user is already on the "home" page. I'd like to make the homepage load, without having to have the first menu item be "home".
I hope that makes sense.
The second template is for the sub-pages of the site. These pages DO need a "home" link in the main menu. Because of this, if I can get the homepage menu to display properly, then I will probably go about creating a copy of the main menu within the administration tool and assign this menu to the pages that use the secondary template, however THIS menu must have "home" as the top item.
I was going to attempt to locate where mambo is writing out the main menu and then check the URL or page location that is being displayed, and if it is the homepage, try to "comment out" the "home" menu item.
I don't really want to go this route because it really doesn't seem like the right way to do it.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, suggestions or comments... PLEASE let me know! Also, if anyone knows how to accomplish this and is a "hired gun", let me know what it would cost for you to accomplish this task.
Thanks all!
