Default modifying newsfeeds RSS

can someone please help me on this issue.
i would like to know how to modify the display of newsfeeds. for example on my site at www.reemasville.com i have yahoo news listings. Yahoo! says the Yahoo image is optional but I don't know how to remove it from all newsfeeds. I dont even know how to customize the display (i.e. just show headlines not summaries).

please help - thanks and nice bboard.

The rss feed actually contains the image. So whoever is giving the feed - yahoo in this case, maybe they have a seprate rss feed without image....
Not sure your issue can be solved by mambo...

The standard newsfeed module from Mambo is not configurable. However Perz Zackrisson has modified his initial Titlenews component heavily for me. Since then Titlenews is very configurable and the solution for your problem.
Just download it at mamboportal.com or http://www.marsell.com

Just set up the newsfeed as normal in Mambo. Give these feed an easy name and drop this in Titlenews on each page you want this to display.

Titlenews does support the following mammeters (parameters):
  • height=150 the vertical height of the module in pixels
  • cache_enable=true you can disable cache (maybe useful if you have spaceproblem)
  • copyw=true show copywrite or not (false)
  • image=true show feedstation picture
And I changed my version a bit further so you can enable/disable scrolling too.

I have attached my version of the script.

webracer, i appreciate your help so far. at www.reemasville.com you can see how far i've gotten.

a few questions still:

in the manual for the module, what does this mean: "To change title per menu item you have to modify the template..." what do they mean by per menu item? can you display different feeds on different pages? im a little confused here.

also, i disabled the image by setting the parameter to false, however, the image still displays, only the image is no longer a link to Yahoo! any ideas on what i can do to correct this. EDIT: I had to manually blank the image, otherwise the parameter isn't working. i was having the same problem with the copyw parameter

also how do i limit the number of articles. i set the actual newsfeed component to 5 but i see way more than 5 items.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

open up mod_rss.php in modules directory.. there is an image parameter, set it to "hidden" .. and hte images wont show..

i modified the original script and made a different module (just to keep original code intact) .. u can install it using mos module installer

you need to edit the mod_titlenews.php file and add a new module parameter. add the two following lines in the first lines after the "scrolling" parameter:

if ($params->maxitems=='')
$params->maxitems= '8';

with this you can add a module option like "maxitems=7" or anything else ...

next you need to find the following line (near the end of the file):

for($i=1;$i<25;$i++)

change the 25 to $params->maxitems, so the new line should now read:

for($i=1;$i<$params->maxitems;$i++)

do the same for the next line a little bit further:

for($i=0;$i<25;$i++)

change it to:

for($i=0;$i<$params->maxitems;$i++)

thats all you need!

bye,
sebastian
