Question Newsfeeds Module -> multiple newsfeeds showing feeds from different sites

Hi

I need some help as I'm very confused. I'm new to mambo and would like to create various category news feeds on the index page.

I need to create them within boxes with space for an image. For an example i found this site, don't think they use mambo though.

http://www.paranormalnews.com/default.asp

I have a component installed named newsfeeds but I'm not clear on how to get news feeds to work.

Sorry if these a very basic questions, I have a great deal to learn with this package.

Any information would be great

Many Thanks

Weavers

Actually this is a little tricky to do and involves a little bit of knowledge of Mambo.

THe newsfeed module that comes with mambo does not allow to control which feed the module will display, it merely displays all the modules you have set to publish.

A modified newsfeed module may exist that has this functionality. Otherwise your going to have to modify the module to allow this.

Then you would need to create multiple instances of the module as discussed here:
http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtop...183&highlight=

You would then need to place module positions in the relevant areas you wish these feeds to be displayed on your frontpage: possibly requireing you to create custom module positions, as discussed here:
http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtop...ighlight=user1

Then you would need to assign your newsfeeds to the relevant module positions.

in fact your problem is very similar to the one discussed here (except this is in relation to latest news modules):

I am a little confused as to what Newsfeed does... I cannot see anyway of pointing it at a feed URL. Is it intended as a source to supply content from Mambo sites news items to user's desktop NewsReader's?

Or is it something more like the caching RSS Parser (CaRP) that allows you to display feeds taken from somwhere like Chordata and display them on you Mambo powered site?

I am looking for something like the later.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide,
Nick.

I'm new to Mambo too and am only just finding my way around the various sites that are used to host discussions and c/m/t downloads... so I just found something i must have skipped right over when I grabbed the module.

Are there any forums dedicated to this module? (Sorry if I'm being dumb here)

Nick.

bump

has anywone had any luck with this?
I am still working on the two cities family site, and it would be great if I could feed news from either city to the appropriate page.
