Default What are the must-have mods & what do they do?

I have a very rich content site that I would like to utilize the best Mambo has to offer. Which mods are must haves and what do they do?

For example, I have no clue what DocMan is or what will it do? In layman's terms can someone explain a document manager?

Thx,
Writer

I think the first thing you should do is visit mosforge.net and then mamboportal.com to look over the lists of available modules/components and what they are for. They are certainly too numerous to mention here. The "must have" modules for me are the flash clock/calendar, events calendar and last five SB posts...plus so many more. It really depends on what you want to offer.

As far as DocMan is concerned...it is a component for listing available documents or files by category. It allows for a description of the file and basically serves as a database for the user to browse through to find files/documents. Remository is similar, but provides more file details and is more suited to file management where DocMan is more suited to document management.

In addition to what Mark wrote you might want to look at all the sites which are being published. Visit some of the sites as published in for instance Template announcements and just surf around the sites...When you click on any link or menu you will notice in your browser the component or module being used. So if you see something on a Mambosite you like that's an other way to discover the component or module being used which you can than download from sites such as http://mosforge.net.

example:
http://www.mambosolutions.com/index....tory&Itemid=28

I copied this for you from the browser. You see here that this site is using the component named "remository" In this way you can discover many components and modules and how they work and you can make a decision which ones you like to use for your site...

Good hunting!!
