Question Attempting first module

Hello,

I am currently in the process of creating my first custom module, to display entries from SQL tables from a database outsite of Mambo,

however I am running into a wall of not knowing where to begin, are there any modules that available that accomplish a similar feat or does anyone have a couple minutes to provide a couple beginning guidelines??

thanks

open any module .zip file and modify the xml file to fit your module...

reate a file mod_yourmodule.php

start coding

if you want to access another databes, the database object of mambo doesn't work for you, so make your queries as you want...

as far as i know.. that's all what you need...

In this thread is a link to a simple module created by Tony
http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtop...?p=59590#59590

The module simply echo's "Hello Everyone"

It contain all the necessary files to make an installable module.
Just plug your code into the php file, rename the files and the data in the xml file and away you go.

With this kind of quick response Mambers would seem to be flourishing already,

many thanks, now to hack away at the non Mambo code,
(slow process for a designer to program)
