Default Mamboday 2005 English

This topic is for people, who do not understand german

and would like to diskuss in the english language.

The german Mambo community is one of the most active community in the world. While the core team was developing Mambo, we spreaded the word and made Mambo very popular in Germany. But we were unsatisfied with only sending mails and talk in forums and so we decided that it is the right time for meet ourselfes in real life.

Therefore we founded the Mamboday. It will be a one day Mambo party and expo. It will take place in Germany's Rhineland* early in 2005. We are currently searching for a good location and started planing the program. the Mamboday will be a meeting place for designers, developers, webmasters and interested people in the community. We will have panel discussions, practice workshops, lectures and interviews with special guests.

It would be great to get some input from you at this point.
  • What do you think about it?
  • Would you like to come to the Mamboday 2005?
  • From where do you come? Will you stay overnight, etc.?
  • What would you liek to see?
  • Which people would you like to meet?
---
* The Rhineland lies right in the middle of Europe between the cities of Cologne, Duesseldorf and Aachen. More informations can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhineland

If at all possible I will attend from England

Would be good if we were able to celebrate Mambo winning the linuxformat award for best open source project. Vote at http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/awards

Hi Arthur.

I would certainly try and get over to join in.

Somewhere in the Koln/Bonn area perhaps? Good access now from London Gatwick to Koln/Bonn Airport.
Could probably do that on a day trip! Second thoughts though, it would probably mean missing the beer, better to stay overnight.

I'd need to know exactly when it is... Don't know how if I could make a trip for 7 days here from the states. It's also kind of costly for me But I'll see if by any chance I will be able to attend.

Arthur, I think it would be a great idea to organise a web conference site powered by mambo to run with the Mamboday expo. That way the whole world could be involved, from a live video feed or two, to online speakers and downloadable videos/pictures and articles from the day.

It would be some undertaking, but I think it would be worth it and could be planned successfully for next year. Web competitions could be run in conjunction with the event, so attendees both in person and virtual could vote on the various challenges (best template done over the weekend for instance).

I'd love to work on such a Mamboday expo site, so if you're interested, so am I

Cheers,

Damian

I will certainly try to come from Copenhagen if you there is a event. I would be very much intrested to see and hear how companies have develop and customize Mambo for their clients needs. Also would be intersting to see some integrations and migrations from other systems.
