| Re: Mamboday 2005 English I would like to see a new approach to Mambo and yes, it could be a german one.
There's the core team and I think that we should have something like a "components/modules team".
Why? I have a dream...
I would like to see one day that we are able to coordinate most (or several) of the basic or more common components, to produce better ones and avoid to have so many editors or galleries but not even a forum able to handle many users.
For example, it's a shame that something as important to many people as the integration of phpBB is done only by Adam, what if he drops out?
Maybe the approach shouldn't be just doing components as the "Lone Coder", maybe using another GNU/GLP programs with Mambo. I do not know.
So, OK, it's GNU/GLP but that doesn't mean that this has to be some kind of anarchy or that we couldn't be much more productive.
MUCH MORE PRODUCTIVE.
That way we should have even more success and more users.
You'll bet.
So I think that the Mamboday should be a great oportunity to talk (and do something) about this way to handle this huge challenge, not just to have a party to spread the word.
Let's stop complaining and let's start doing something! |

| Re: Mamboday 2005 English What about Vienna? Nice place, cheaper than one thinks...actually I'm sure the German crew will want it in a more "home-town" kind of place, and that makes a lot of sense.
Regarding making decisions such as these, what kind of structure is in place for that?
It might be fun to make an electronic voting system, where, for exmaple, each vote is given a certain amount of points based on the level/extent of contribution to Mambo. The parameters of "contribution" would be something like "posts to forum" 0-Max#ofPosts = 1-10 points, InCoreTeam = #points, component/module/template developer = #points, etc.
Mainly, I wanted to respond to idigital/Damian, as a global net-based conference would be very interesting, and I would certainly be interested in participating, psbly in an "official" way, dunno...

| I could do simultaneous translation from German into English. Don't want to toot my own horn here, but if anyone is interested, I'd be glad to send a resume, qualifications, and such info. Couldn't volunteer my services, but since Mambo has such a cool community, I would certainly give an excellent rate. Also, I'd be willing to consider doing translation work for "exchange of services," and the services would be, of all things: Mambo development!

| Re: Mamboday 2005 English Well, today I can tell everyone the first hard fact about the Mamboday. Here they are: - The Mamboday will be hold on Saturday, May 28th 2005.
- It will take place in the Gustav Heineman House in Bonn/Germany (http://www.ghh-bonn.de/)
- The entrance fee will be at 20 to 30 Euro (depending on the sponsors)
At the moment we are having some final things to clarify. One important point are the sponsors of the event. If you have any ideas/connections please let us know. We also talked with Nick Designer, creator of the Mambo flower logo, to get the right to create some mechandising artilcles for you. Sadly we still have no definitiv 'Yes' and it therefore could happen that we are not allowed to use the Mambo flower logo. Sad, but true.
