i'm also asking for an improved poll component:

polls for site members should remember wether a member has already voted.
a member can change his decision later on (switchable...)
a member should have a definable number of votes (subfeature, switchable...)

additional to the anonymos votes, also not anonymos votes should be possible.
result of a not anonymos poll should be a list of members with their decisions and probably a individual comment from a member.

example:

Poll:
metting 04.04.04 9:00. please confirm your participation: yes/no/not shure comment

Result:
dave yes
frank no //holliday
linda yes //coming later
....
2 x yes
1 x no

Many ideas to us this!!! Knows anybody, whether such a component already exists, or is planned?

I have been hanging out with the internet marketers lately. It will be a popular component in the Internet Marketing community. Right up there with SEF urls!

I did a search on Mamboportal and MOSFORGE and didn't see anything there.

Anyways I'll keep looking for something maybe in another project that can be converted over.

As far as an improved polling module, I'd add 3 more requests:

1) Cycle through a series of polls so that when a user votes for a poll, or refreshes the page, a new one comes up. Right now, once a user votes, that 'block' is a waste of space for them until the admin publishes a new poll. The ability to cycle polls on page load would allow for different people to get different polls, so the users votes would be distributed across all the polls at the same time, rather than everyone vote on one poll, admin update, everyone vote on another, etc.

2) Related to the above, add functionality to allow different polls in different sections. That way information specific to a given topic/section can be polled.

3) Publish poll results in same window as the poll (or maybe a popup?), rather than breaking the flow of the main content area. Polls should be a quick way to get feedback from the site visitors and then allow them to get back to what they were doing. They don't need to be front-and-center.

Guess that's why they call it a "wish list"! Thanks for all the great work to everyone who codes/contributes to/uses/hacks Mambo!

Unregistered gets - "how did you find us?"
Registered gets "what you you need to stay?"
