Default How do you install Add ons?

MY host automatically installed Mambo 4.5 1.3 (using Fantastico) so I
have no idea really what im doing. I also have never used a content
management system before.

So pretty much i have no clue as to what things mean and what i can
actually do with Mambo.

So far I have been able to upload a template and add modules, which i
have been able to use and components, which i dont know how to use
except the built in ones like banner.

My main questions is how do you install Addons?? is it not done in the
admin menu?

Is there a site which explains what mambo can do for the complete new
user?

MosForge.net (MF) is Mambo's official home...aside from mamboserver.com. At MF you will find the official documentation and many of the components, modules and templates (CMTs) available for Mambo. They are not all there, but the ones that are, are the most current versions. There are also several "fan" and mambo news sites that offer CMT downloads, such as mamboportal.com.

Add-ons often involve modifying Mambo's core files. To do this, you will need ftp access to the directory Mambo is installed in. If you have access, but do not wish to make core file modifications without assistance, I'm sure you will have no problem finding some one here that will be willing to help you. Happy Mamboing!
