Default installation problem - what gives!

I have been using PostNuke, GeekLog, PhpNuke and more.

I am surprised how strange the installation documentation is here:

In the docs - you talk about doing the installation on my own through a sql file - replacing the configuration.php file with new one, etc etc , but then once I transfer files on my site and go to www.mysite.com/, it goes into installation mode www.mysite.com/installation/ and I dont have to do anything - it does it all for myself. I dont get it!

so now I have this error:
Template File Not Found!

I think that the mambo installation has some major bugs. I personally don't use it and HATE it, it always gives me bugs after the installation, so I'd rather stay with the manual install and prefer that to the other mambers around.

hmm....also have the same problem...followed everything said in the installation manual but nothing seems to work...and sometimes I get like a popup that says 'LOGIN_INCORRECT'

but I checked my mysql password, it's correct... This is what I did:

1. Untarred and Uploaded the files
2. Use Phpmyadmin to upload sql file named 'mambo.sql' in the 'sql' folder, which I earlier uncomment the last 6 lines
3. Configured configuration.php and upload it

Do you guys see anything wrong here? (Also checked the home directory it's correct as well...)

Anyway, gave up for the moment and did an installation on Fantastico (for Mambo ver 1.0.2) and uploaded the 1.0.7 files + the 1.0.8 patch...and now it works....
