Question 4.6=xMambo (was: Mambo 4.6 / 5?)

Does someone know anything about comming Mambo releaces in detail?

* Will there be a 4.6 release?
(and will it be XHTML+CSS like xMambo?)

* When (Date) are new versions (4.6 or 5) timed for release?

THX!

Just to be sure, you are aware that version 4.5 just came out at the end of Dec., 2003, and that 5.0 is a significant advancement over 4.5. If it only took a year, that would be amazing to me personally.

Based on the 4.5 alpha and beta cycle, I would guess that December is about right for a stable release. I would suspect that development alphas would start to get released around the late June/early July time frame with betas starting sometime during September.

Many of us were running live 4.5 betas after the first month of beta cycles. However, this core team has a tendency to add new bells and whistles right through the beta cycle based on user feedback.

Early Developer releases should start appearing around September time but we can not confirm that at this time.

We will of course keep the community updated about the 5.0 development progress via the main site.

Then it looks like it will be late first quarter 2005 for a stable release, based on the last development cycle. Ten months is a long time.

Oh well, I guess we could always start a MOS Superhack project and race them to the finish line.

Maybe we can talk Arthur into setting up a forum category called MOS 4.5 Superhack Taskforce with forums for handling the different aspects of what needs to get done in the way of 4.5 core enhancements. Who knows...maybe some of it will make it into the 5.0 core. This might actually be a fun project to work on.

That might be a good idea, it would also possibly reduce confusion by removing some of the hack-talk from the "regular" forums?
