Default GENERAL editor and content questions

1.) whats the purpose of having an user with editor access? what can can't he she do vs. a regular member or admin?

2.) when i'm logged in as admin, i click a item, such as a component, module etc and often i get a Page Cannot Load error. after I refresh it or go back and reload it loads. but this happens very often. any ideas why?

3.) can someone kindly explain what these are:
separator
typed content
content section
" " category
" " blog section
" " blog category
" " catergory archive
???

thanks!

Default Re: GENERAL editor and content questions

1 & 2: dunno
3. separator is just (by default) a line of ------- to separate visually some menu items from others, like a divider
typed content: you'll link directly to a "page" you create with the editor from the "new menu item", that means it's not part of any section/category and the only way to edit this is from the menu, I use that on my site for stuff like the blog viewer, aubade etc which are not part of any news
content section/category: figured out how to use these recently.
in admin, in your content menu, you first create sections, in these then categories (sub-sections), and you'll put your news items in these.
so in hte menu on your index, you'll first add the section you created, then the categories that go in each section as child items, in htis way, the main menu shows only the sections, and by clicking, expands to show the categories as subitems... (was that clear? ) you'll notice that you'll only be able to add already published sections/categories to your menu, once you've used all the sections, you can't add any more (unless you 1st create new ones in the content menu).

the others, i haven't used so far..

An Author can submit News items and Weblinks.
They can also go back an re-edit posts they have submitted.
However, they cannot posts submitted by others.
They have frontend access only

An Editor can submit posts as well as edit any post submitted.

Best advice is just create new menu items of the type indicated to see wht they look like. If you don't like them simply delete them.
These Main Menu options are only interfaces for displaying your content, creating and deleting them does not affect your content.
So just play around with them to see what they are.

Have you read the Official Manual.

If you mean posts as in news items, you must add the option to the users' menu from admin.

You can either use the SUBMIT NEWS link in the User Menu (if you have enabled it) or, click the little NEW ICON you will see at the bottom of the Category Pages.

Remember...there is documentaion for Mambo, and most of the stuff being asked in this thread is basic stuff that is discussed in the manual.
