Default How to restrict "read more" access?

Hi Mambers!

My name is Ryan, and I'm new to the community. I've been using Mambo for about 4 months now, and have really seens some great framework built in it. I'm going to be working on some projects that are going to stretch my knowledge of the framework, so I'll be asking a lot of questions (after searching the forums =) ) that might be new ones...

So...here's the first one.

We need to be able to have all articles on our site that have the "read more" link available for registered users to freely access, BUT, non-registered users would essentially get a page when they click the "read more" link that says, "you must be a registered user to read more".

I've been searching around our admin control panel and the forums, but haven't found an answer. It seems that if you restrict articles to registered users, non-registered users simply don't see the article at all. We want to tease the non-registered users with the intro to the stories, and then have them register (much like salon.com and others) to read the rest of the story.

Any help?

Thanks!
-Ryan

Hi Ryan,

you can test the mosviewonly mambot.

Greetings,

Yeah, I just downloaded and installed it...this is a great first step!

Only problem now is that when someone clicks on the Read More link, it simply takes them to the article page with the mambotted text removed. What i really need is some kind of generic directive that would take the user to a page that says, "to read more, you must register", or something to that effect.

I think that something a little more standardized that wouldn't require the use of a mambot in every story would be necessary to make this work properly and most efficiently.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Ryan
