Default test Mambo on local computer?

Hi

I would like to test Mambo on my local machine. How do I accomplish that?
Also, can I easily upload what I setup locally to my hosted domain without headaches (ain't no programmer) or would you advice me to set the whole thing up on my ftp right away?

Thank you!

I test all the modules, components, templates, hacks, bots etc locally before going live.
You can either use MSAS (mos standalone server), try mambosolutions for this or mosforge,
or do as I did: install www.easyphp.org (apache, php, phpmyadmin, mysql..) and then mambo..

I love MSAS, it is by far the easiest and it's all the same as when you have to install it. I would get MSAS at www.mambosolutions.com

If you are just interesting in it being quick and having mambo already ready to go, definitely go with MSAS. If you want to dig into the workings of Apache/PHP/MySQL a little more, and you want mail and ftp servers locally, then definitely I can recommend Xampp, it's very nice. If you really want to know what is going on, install and configure Apache/PHP/MySQL individially.

BUT if you are more expirienced and know how it works but just need a test server to see how your templates, module, components are working MSAS is great. Very quick, very easy and I love the graphical interface.

thank you for your suggestions

unfortunately I have no php/apache/mysql skills.

Actually I have installed MSAS, BUT

I don't know where to start: I can see that a virtual "W/" drive has been created, but how do I proceed?

A hint or a link would be very appreciated. I'm pretty sure that I'll go for Mambo, if I just can deal with it, which I'm not so sure about right now

Thanx!

If you see the virtual drive w:\ that means the server is running, so all you need to do is point your browsers at http://localhost
