show news item like on the frontpage, but elsewhere?

How can I show news items exactly as they currently appear on the frontpage, but somewhere else? I am trying to build a site where the parties don't want the news on the frontpage, but also don't want it presented the way it shows up on the news page..

Also, is there a way to reverse sort the news listings on the news page (not on the frontpage -- that's already taken care of).

Is the most recent version of the blog component really from July 2003? I don't see more updated versions on Phil Taylor's site or on MOSforge.

Is there a way to sort the output of a blog content category? I can see the other Content Archive parameters, but I'd like to reverse the sort order.

But ideally, I'd lke to see an option added to the parameters. Something like:
count=10
intro=3
image=1
header=Welcome to this section
empty=I don't have anything to display
sort=created_descending
