Newsfeeds & categories

Is it possible to make several categories of the newsfeed files (RSS), and showing them on the mainpage (where the articles are displayed)?

I think the work on this component has some lack of features. I guess most of the users want to create their own categories and just show 1 feed at a time.

Yes this is possible, I implemented somthing similar to this here:

I hacked the newsfeeds module and added parameters to it so I could specify which newsfeed to display. Also hacked the pdf class file to only show the titles (& not title and description).

Then I simply created 4 copies of the newsfeeds module.
