Default installing htmlarea3

Hi there,

I am currently running Mambo 4.5 1.0.5. I have been using htmlarea2, but know I would like to install and try htmlarea3. I downloaded htmlarea3 from Mamboportal.com and removed the htmlarea2 directory and uninstalled htmlarea3 into a new directory htmlarea3. I can't access the editor anymore, it keeps coming up with problems. I have searched some of the forums @ mamboserver.com but with no success.

The directory I installed it in was editor/htmlarea3. Not editor/htmlarea3/htmlarea3. I know when you unzip it creates another folder called htmlarea3. That hasn't occured here!

Any ideas what I have done wrong? I feel like there must be a setting I have not changed??

Also what is the RTE editor? How can I use this? I am so confused regarding the editors.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Nathan

Did you go to Global Configuration or configuration.php and changed the editor to "htmlarea3"? I know that's a silly question

To use RTE go into your Global Config and change the editor to RTE. That's what I use, find it very nice.

Thanks for the help guys!

Guess what....I never went to the Global Configuration page and changed the option from htmlarea2 to htmlarea3

Now it works perfectly!

Wish I checked that earlier!!

There's actually no need to remove the htmlarea2 directory - unless you're concerned about possible security exploits.

I used RTE and HTMLAREA2. However neither has a "user friendly" way of insterting links to media files. I am working on a website for a local church and the paster wants to post audio files of his weekly sermons. I am having trouble getting htmlarea3_xtd-c to work. Comes up with a blank, un-editable, text area. Ideas? Anyone else having this issue?

Trouble is HTML area 3's last name.

I've given up it's so unreliable. Whit 10 editors for one site it works on some browsers not others and also works some days and not others.

I'm so over it .. good old html_area2 for me until something more reliable comes up.

I keep getting the blank, un-editable, text area in html not WYSIWYG and at times it won't even let you edit that.
