Question File Access problem with ReMOSitory and Gallery

Hello,

My current system setup is:

Linux linux 2.4.21-202-default
Database Version: 4.0.18-standard-log
PHP Version: 4.3.3
Web Server: Apache/2.0.48 (Linux/SuSE)
WebServer to PHP interface: apache2handler
Mambo Open Source Version: 4.5 Stable-1.0.7

This is my problem:

I’m really new to the entire Open Source environment so please forgive me if it sounds like I don’t know what in the world I’m doing because I probably don’t . I have Mambo up and running and everything seems to work great except for two things. I’m having problems with the ReMOSitory component and another problem with the software package Gallery.

Both of these programs seem to be working, I can upload things in ReMOSitory and it puts the files where they are suppose to be, I can browse to my Gallery page and I can see the albums I have created. The problem is when I go to download and item I get a file not found from ReMOSitory and if I open a picture album the images don’t display.

The one thing both of these applications have in common is I have configured them to store items on a secondary hard drive (Much larger than the drive the OS is on). I have checked the forums for both of these products and I believe that I have them configured correctly. I think my problem may lie in Apache not allowing access to the drive but I’m not sure. On the other hand if I add a file or album from Mambo they do show up on the drive. I’m kind of lost now, not having a good background on any of these products I’m not to sure what steps to take next.

Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me figure out how to make this work?

If you need any more information please let me know.

Thanks

Sounds like a permissions problem. You may want to check that they aren't getting set to 600.

Thanks for the reply keliix06, I tried changing the file permissions and that did not seem to help. One thing I may have wrong is who I'm suppose to give permission to. I have tried setting the file owner to root and wwwrun, I have not had any luck with either of those options.

I downloaded the Zoom Image Gallery just to try another app, and set the location to the secondary drive and when I go to create a gallery it gives the error message "mkdir(/local/picsWGHDYY): Permission denied ". Someone told me to run this command on that directory and the rights should be ok."chmod -R 777 /local/pics" It didnt seem to help any.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I figured it out. It was a combination of rights and adding the correct Alias and Directory options to my apache config.

Thanks for the help

I found using zOOm that you needed to make a subdirectory inside the gallery directory and put your images in there. Then you can see and add to them.
