Default Access Controls -> Users limited to managing specific content only?

I want to create a user called zoo and then allow them to just manage the zoo content on the site. I don't want them to be able to manage any other info. They should be able to add content and approve it. they will be "Trusted" sources of info. Can I start groups of users and assign them to specific types of content or categories of content?

I would appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone can offer.

thanks,

ian hartten

This kind of specific access control is not possible with Mambo 4.5.

It will be available in 5.0 (which wont be released till very late this year).

There maybe someone working on a hack to allow you do this, can't quite remember.

Stingrey,

Im am the director at Toledo.com - a city portal for Toledo Ohio. Toledo is a city with over 600K in metro area. We are php programing house and love mambo. We are considering using it for our toleodo.com portal.

We get about 140,000 unique visitors and aobut 400K page views

I have 2 questions.

1. can you i get involved with the developement of 5 way.. Maybe doing documentation or working on ideas and layouts.. We can do some PHP work but our guys are pretty busy.

2. Will mambo 4.5 perform well under the loads we have now?

3. Where is the best info about the feature sets of 5.0?

The developers of Mambo are a pretty tight nit group, led by Robert Castley & Andrew Eddie and I'm not sure if they are looking to expand their team at the moment.

Contact details for the Project leaders can be found there.

If you want to help with Documentation, this is always appreciated and is handled by a seperate Documentation Team led by Michelle Bisson & Gareth White. They are looking for people to help out.
The official Documentation team project page is:

I don't forsee why it shouldn't. Mambo is robust enough to handle a slashdotting as one mamber can attest to, when his site get slashdotted this month.

An example of a site which caters for large daily visitor numbers is the:

group of sites, which all run Mambo.

The offical Roadmap is viewable here:

An updated discussion by the developers can be read here:

Default Different permission levels for AdministartorS

Is it possible in Mambo to setup user administrators or group with different levels of permissions, so that a user only can edit thier catergory of content such as news articles, and not able to change or modify others articles added by others users??

The only way around this appears to be that one needs to install multiple mambo instances for one website, so that each can have it's own separate administrator.

Xaraya can do this, but wondering if mambo can too??
