YEah i think you need gallery man.

Hey does anyone know how i make gallery a component link, like it loads within mambo, instead of loading into a new page..
so it say something like-
http://www.halcyondaze.net/index.php...lery&Itemid=36

instead of the current way it is-
http://www.halcyondaze.net/modules/gallery/albums.php
I can now see gallery in components, but when i go into it, i save the settings and then if i go into Site Module Manager gallerys 'type' is User when all the other modules say mod_watever
so how do i make gallery module work?

pls help me, this is driving me crazy, im sur eim close but no cigar yet
ok i have a gallery in my modules folder (my original instal of gallery and it has been updated) and in components (in ftp) i have a com_gallery
and in that an images folder with the logo228 in it and 4 php and 1 xml file.
So i think gallery is still being access the old way and i wanna know how to make it load as a com inside my page... cheers

I have a working Mambo 4.5.1 with Gallery 1.4.4 at http://avinator.com

The component install script included with Gallery 1.4.4 in the /Contrib/Mambo/ folder works GREAT. Additionally, the upload script is fine, and form based uploading works great under Mozilla (problem in Gallery 1.4.3).

Anyways, this is what my settings are like:

/mambo
/mambo/gallery
(*note here: when installing Gallery, select Mambo instead of stand alone)
/mambo/gallery/albums
/mambo/gallery/temporary

I didn't put Gallery into the com_gallery folder. I've installed Gallery on 3 sites, and I always put it in the /mambo/gallery directory.

Install like a normal component, but instead of uploading a zip file, just point the installer to the /mambo/gallery/contrib/mambo/ directory. the install script is there.

ps: my favorite galleries are (in order) Gallery 1.4.4, Zoom Media Gallery, Coppermine (never got it working with mambo), AkoGallery, RSgallery (dropped).

EDIT: ps, I forgot, but Gallery's install script creates a mos_ table. so you may want to change that if you changed your db prefix for Mambo.

I checked out your site - you have Gallery installed as a standalone instead of a component.

Go to Mambo, Install Component, and point the installer to the /gallery/contrib/mambo folder.

That will install Gallery as a component.

Then, for your menu item: make a new item, type=component, select Gallery.

Right now, your menu item is just a hyperlink to http://domain/gallery/albums

I think i have the module installed, and i made a new menu like u said here-

sweet, all good.. but if i look in Site Module Manager , gallery is the only one there that is a 'type' user and not a mod_blah

So what should i do next? If u look again at my site i made that menu item up top left but its not linked to anything..so how do i make it link right...? Im confusing i know, sorry. i value ur tips tho, thnx heaps!

Hi all, I am having major hassles just getting gallery to work right, i had it going fine till i tried to integrate it into a com_galler.. B ut i think it might be close? I need someone who knows to let me know what to do, pls advise if u can.. thnx heaps

haha, ahh ok cool, see it works fine for me here and on another line and comp but some of my mates are having issues seeing any pics at all, they get red x's, they're at werk on pc's and i am on a mac, but that cant be it can it?

My question is : Does my gallery work as a module now? Can you see my gallery ok?

I have Mambo running fine, and Gallery running fine (installed as Mambo instead of Standalone)

When I go to Mambo, and "Install Component" I put the path to the contrib/mambo as explained in the HowTo.txt file in contrib/mambo.

When I click on "Install" I get:

Installation file not found:
/var/www/sites/demo/wildthing/gallery/contrib/mambo/

The HowTo.txt file suggests that you enter the directory where gallery.xml is residing (it is there, as above, in contrib/mambo) - is this what Mambo is looking for with regards to a Component install?
