I am not an advanced MOS user and I've just made a big mistake and no I have an error, which must be repaired in a few hours...

I had to install a new component, a guest book - I installed AkoBook 3.3 (which is a version for Mambo 4.5.1) instead of AkoBook 3.1 (version for Mambo 4.5, my Mambo, because I use MOS 4.5 Stable-1.0.9 [Spider] 28/06/2004 16:51 GMT). When I realized that it was a wrong version, it was too late - when I click 'Components->Install/Uninstall' to uninstall AkoBook 3.3 I saw only a line: 'Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/socrates/public_html/administrator/component_installer.php on line 254'...

Now there's nothing I can do with my skills. Please help, I have only a few hours...

I don't think you broke anything. If I recall correctly from one of my earlier bone head moves, Mambo is designed so it won;t install if the script is wrong.

Is the component listed in the component's area? If so, uninstall it. Or, install the correct component into your mambo site, and I think the files will over write.

Relax, what's the worst that can happen...you find a new bug? :-)

Yes, it's listed (I mean: it's one of the item in menu 'Components', as the one component).

But as I wrote - I can't install or uninstall any component, because when I choose in menu 'Components->Install/Uninstall' I see the 'error line'. I cannot install or uninstall any component - that's my problem...

I am not an expert... Did you tell me to remove this component in a file manager of my site? I don't think so... Waiting for replies...

Okay, lets get severe.

FTP into your mambo site with your FTP program. Navigate to the components directory, and remove (delete) the offending component's directory.

/public/components/com_akowhatever it was....Book I think

Its ugly, and severe, but....I guess in a pinch....

I've got some idea, please comment it: to make a db backup including all tables except AkoBook and then restore.

OK, I've managed to remove my error, thanks to one of mambers...

If you have that kind of problem, follow this instrucion:
1. Using PhpMyAdmin, remove the table mos_akobook.
2. Using ftp client or file manager, remove ../components/com_akobook
3. ""../administrator/components/com_akobook

...and everything should be ok.
