Default HTMLArea3 XTD component or editor install?

Looking at the mosforge page for the HTMLArea3 XTD editor I'm a little confused.

The component version has a later file date (as do the files inside the archive) but the backend editor install has a higher revision number (1.5 vs. 1.1).

Are they both the same product or are their version numbers correct?

Which has a better feature set?

Which is more stable?

Thanks,

JP

BTW, feel free to let me know if you thin there is a better editor available also, I appreciate the input.

It's what it says: HTMLArea3 XTD-Component is the component version of HTMLArea3 XTD and comes with an installer and backend administration. Current version of the component is v1.1 (running the editor v1.6)

HTMLArea3 XTD is the editor itself and indeed the latest stand alone version is v1.5.

I suggest installing HTMLArea3 XTD-C v1.1 as it comes with several bugfixes and additional security fixes, besides you can tweak and configure the editor over the backend. Make sure to first unzip the downloaded file and read the ReadMe file.

cheers,
novocaine

P. S.: Reading the release notes on mosforge would have answered your questions.

Specs, design docs, release note, who reads 'em? Down with CMM!

Thanks for the quick response.

I honestly did not see the rev of the editor in any of the docs I looked at.

Thanks again,

JP

Got an issue here.

Can't install it via the Mambo admin it crashed Apache.

Can I just dump the install indo the dir and overwrite the files automatically?

If not what's the alternative?

The install I have is ....

HTMLArea3 XTD-Component 1.1
HTMLArea3 XTD-C v1.1

First time i hear about the installer crashing apache?!
However, you can unzip com_htmlarea3_xtd-c to your uploads directory (e.g. /uploads/com_htmlarea3_xtd-c) and choose "Install from directory" by pointing to this folder.

So do you need 1.5 installed (uploaded) along with 1.1c?
