Default no meta tags for sections and categories

Ive been using mambo a while and I cant believe I hadnt noticed that sections and categories dont have anywhere to input meta tags.

It seems really strange to have pages that dont have the ability to give their own meta tags

I thought meta tags were a sign of compliant code?

If anyone knows of how to give meta tags to each section and category page, i would v much appreciate it.

maybe it needs copying and pasting some of the code for items into section and category parts of content.php and then inserting two new fields into the database

Hi Yippie, you right! No meta tags for sections and categories. I've been posting about here and there, but didn't get yet good answers.
Even worst: blog sections and blog categories meta tags. Here - if you have, say, five/ten news in a page - meta descriptions and meta keywords are a mess of every single new's meta tags.
I use blog categories in my site but I had to take away meta tags. Hope someone will find a solution.
It's true that G. and the other major engines don't care much, today, about meta tags but, for many reasons they are still useful (indexing of pages and even serp when two pages are in some way equals).
A part from that, your pages risk to be considered spam and to be banned or at least to slip down in the search when you show duplicated keywords in meta tags.
How to solve that? Everything comes from mosShowhead function. Unfortunately my knowledge of PHP is really poor, so I don't know how to extract meta tags from mosShowhead and, may be, use them with an if statement.
You better in PHP...
ciao

Mambo is such a great CMS, but sometimes i wonder how things like this can get left out.

Oh well, i suppose i shall have to hack this myself, watch this space.

If you are going to hack this can you also add to sections and categories a prefix for CSS like there is for modules so that we can cause sections or categories to look different?

I really hope you are successful with this. I had a hack working on an older release. I'd hoped it would be included in the new release but now the hack doesn't work at all.
