Default HTML editor 1.5 for mambo

I have this strange problem:
I just installed the htmlarea3_xtd version from april 20th. If I do not follow the instructions to input the name in htmlarea3_xtd in the field WYSISWYG editor in Global Configuration, then I can use part of the editors qualities, like bold face and formatting, tab and so on, but not coloring of letters or table or images or pop up window.
As soon as I put in the name in the above mentioned field and save I get an error on page and nothing works any more.

The error I get is HTMLarea is undefined ?? If I put anything else in the field I again have the editor working halfways.

I have IE6 and Windows ME I do not know if that matters. Language does not matte, i.e it does not influence this behaviour, I tried that already.

Has anyone experience from this? How does the editor do in general? Do I maybe need Windows XP with a better IE. Mozilla 1.6 does not work at all for thios editor. How is it with you guys?

Regards Reynir

you have to write htmlarea3_xtd if you want use this editor. works fine for me, but i use version 1.0, as v1.5 crashes my Mozilla, maybe what you hav seen was the default editor htmlarea2, which can only be used on IE

Yes, maybe. It seems that 1.5 is after all not quite ripe yet. Maybe I install 1.0. I use Mozilla more than IE anyway.

Thanks.

Using htmlarea xtd v1.5, I see in Netscape's (V7.1) Java script console many errors similar to these:

Error: missing ; before statement -- Source File: http://10.10.10.92/editor/htmlarea3_...rea_xtd.js.php -- Line: 1,
Error: HTMLArea is not defined -- Source File: http://10.10.10.92/editor/htmlarea3_xtd/lang/en.js -- Line: 15
Error: HTMLArea is not defined -- Source File: http://localhost/administrator/index...nt&sectionid=1 -- Line: 28
Error: HTMLArea is not defined -- Source File: http://localhost/administrator/index2.php -- Line: 357
Error: HTMLArea is not defined -- Source File: http://localhost/administrator/index2.php -- Line: 502

Needless to say, it does not work with either IE or Netscape.

I tried htmlarea3 (downloaded from sourceforg.org) and got Apache errors such as this:

[Fri Apr 30 11:03:39 2004] [error] [client 10.10.10.92] File does not exist: C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/editor/htmlarea3/plugins/EnterParagraphs, referer: http://localhost/administrator/index2.php?reset=1
[Fri Apr 30 11:03:43 2004] [error] [client 10.10.10.92] File does not exist: C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/editor/htmlarea3/plugins/EnterParagraphs, referer: http://localhost/administrator/index...nt&sectionid=1

More crash and burn!! Anyone have any suggestions?
