Question More access control and phpbb issues!

I'm evaluating various CMSs and I've stopped to take a more focused look at mambo. One thing that bothers me is that there is limited control. Control is based upon whether a user is unregistered (public) or registered. Additionally, there are no builtin user groups so addons such as "docman" have to invent their own grouping scheme.
So 1.Is there a more advanced grouping scheme, that can put (sub)groups and users into groups and assign permission on a group level?

I've also setup a phpbb forum as an addon to the Mambo and have seen that there are a couple of problems there. One problem is that 2.there is no unified search so the user has to search the mambo and the phpbb separately and the other problem is that the 3.integration fails sometimes leaving the user logged in phpbb and logged out in mambo (so the user cannot login again in mambo because the login script fails).

These are disturbing things that put me away from using mambo. Are there any helping news?

Regards,
Miltos.

Ask websmurf in the phpbb thread on the mamboserver.com forums.
