| Re: One of the reasons people cannot login to mambo using IE Even though Muhaha's hack seemed to work for me and I didn't see the "Navstar" thing some of you did, I am still having problems sometimes with IE6 freezing up when browsing to my Mambo sites ( I am using version 4.5 (1.0.7). Then I have to hard boot my PC, which is not good.
Seems to me that this is a huge problem. Why would people visit our Mambo sites if this happens to them? I'm sure that most of the browsing public uses IE6 so this must get fixed. Is the Mambo project aware of this problem?

| its fixed! paul helped me with it...he just had me change my time zone difference and then he reset my time out time to much higher and had me clear my cookies and it worked!
i don't understand the whole process, but that seemed to be a pretty darn simple solution...i think he needs a sticky message to let people know how to do this!

| Re: One of the reasons people cannot login to mambo using IE So Tina do you mean he fixed the difference in your PC time and your server's time? I was wondering if that's what my problem is cuz my server is on East Coast time and I am on Mountain time...
Also, when you say he fixed the time out time is that the line Muhaha recommended changing?
Thx,

| Re: One of the reasons people cannot login to mambo using IE Hey Tina Woman,
Well what I did to solve the problem was take the mambo.php file from my test site and just replace the modified one. I could have copied the code and then modify it on the local drive with a plain text editor but I just copy and paste solution. The test site was on the same ftp as a sub directory.
Did Paul fix it for you? Could you give me the hack or how in the world he did it? For the installation not found problem, it may be due to your mambo instalation process. You have to read through the mambo documentation as their is some file permissions that you may need to change.
Please give me the hack for fixing the IE log in problem. |

| Re: One of the reasons people cannot login to mambo using IE i've just IM'd paul to post what he did here. so hang tight and you will hopefully soon get it straight from the horse's mouth. i don't even know exactly how he did it...i'm not a hacker by any means...i'm a total novice at this stuff...i only know the very basics. but it did seem pretty easy how he fixed it. although i didn't do the backend stuff...i made him a superadmin and he did it for me...so that's why i've asked him to tell you guys.
stay tuned!

| Re: One of the reasons people cannot login to mambo using IE Quite easy really
In the mambo administrator configuration, set the time offset to your local time if server time is different.
Change the default cookie time to 48,000 seconds (13.333 hours) or more.
Delete your cookies in IE.
It sorts the most common problems but not all of them.
All power to the mamber!

| Re: One of the reasons people cannot login to mambo using IE ok I've tried everything suggested in the both forums mambers and mamboservers to try and fix this problem. Don't know if this help's anyone but i'm lost here.
Server
Windows 2003/IIS6
php 4.3.3
mysql 4
first tried configuring the app to run under subdomain and extended the cookie time out then tried Mozilla and IE6 and both bounced the admin login back. Then configured Mambo to run on root domain, made the same changes to cookie setting and same problem in both browsers. I don't have any problem logging into the frontend "which is truly confusing me"
The site runs like a champ on FreeBSD. I believe my custom php.ini file for win2003 setting are correct althought i'm not 100% positive. OK i'm lost here. Anyone with any hints, clues, suggestion? My next step would be |

I have the same problem and tried to fix the problem as suggested.
However, I can't locate class/mambo.php from root and sub-directories?

Go to classes/mambo.php, approx line 142 and change:
the line : setcookie( "sessioncookie", $session->getCookie(), time() + 43200, "/" );
into : setcookie( "sessioncookie", $session->getCookie(), time() + 2*86400, "/" ); | I have the similar problem. Can't log from IE6.0 environment. When I try to login, I'm returned back to the login page.
I've tried the solution mentioned here but without any success. Does anybody know other solution or anything that can modify this solution (I'm in GMT+1) cos it seems logical and I've thought that my problem was/is exactly in it? |
