Default Mambo 4.6 im Mai

There have been some major changes going on in Mambo Towers. We have decided that we will be releasing a 4.6 version and there will be no 4.5 (1.0.8) version that we have previously mentioned.

The main reason for this is that there are now too many different 4.5 versions out there today including developer releases, betas, release canditates etc.

We will be releasing a public beta of 4.6 in May and will be looking to get as many bugs squashed as soon as possible with the aim of a stable release by the end of May.

The 4.6 release will bring a number of significant enhancements:

* Integration of phpMailer for the internal mail engine
* Developer API documentation. This can be generated by users locally using phpDocumentor. We will be putting up a live URL nearer the time.
* Migration of content, category and module functions in administration to component format.
* New CHANGELOG
* mambots are now called mosbots. This will help with the migration to 5.0 later on.
* Other enhancements will follow over the coming weeks but the details are not yet finalised.

schon mal fleissig Testen.

4.6 update

Wednesday, 28 April 2004
4.6 is well on target for a mid May beta delivery. Some people have been asking if it will be possible to upgrade their 4.5 install to 4.6 ... of course it will! There are a couple of minor database changes which will be included in the database upgrade file. Also all fixes that since 4.5 (1.0.7) will be available in 4.6.

There have been a number of significant improvements implemented over the last few days:

* Replaced miniXML with DOMIT - this will overcome the problem with installing CMTs if you are running PHP 4.2.
* Improved control of the display of blogs - 1 column, 2 column, 2 column with leading story.
* Upgraded the ZIP library used by the CMT installer
* Dynamic Template System - the ability to assign a template to a menu item e.g. the blue template can be assigned to Home, the red template assigned to news and the orange template for the rest of the site.
* RTE (Rich Text Editor) is now the default WYSIWYG editor as this works in both IE and Mozilla. Htmlarea2/3, WYSIWYGPro and xStandard support is still provided.
