Default Updating SQL DB with 4.5.1a ?

Ik updated my 4.5.1 installation to 4.5.1a (with the update package from mamboportal), but I did not execute the SQL script.
Everything seems to work very fine.
When I look into the installation, SQLdir, I see one mambo.sql file. In that SQL file I see some updates to news flash items (which I don't want on a live server)
Also banners are working correctly.
Do I really have to upgrade the SQL database, or can I work without ?

I have this same question because I installed the patch last night, but it doesn't seem that the installation folder has anything in it that would be beneficial for someone updating from 4.5.1 Stable to 4.5.1a. It fact, it seems like it would do more harm than good because with an installation folder on the server, wouldn't your site then become inaccessible until you deleted the folder once again? Plus, in installing the patch, the Mambo devs said we would only need to copy files to our server, not upgrade our database.

Can anyone shed light on this subject? I've already asked about this over at the Mamboserver forums, but haven't gotten a reply yet.

An update: I got a reply on the official Mambo message boards last night saying that upgrading the database is NOT needed if you are just going from 4.5.1 to 4.5.1a.
