Yes, I am having the same problem too!
At first I thought that I have installed the Windows2003 Server incorrect (didn't turn on the IIS component at first), then we got some errors in trying to install it from the CD... but I managed to got it enabled from inside the windows system itself. Then, we got this very first page of mambo installation. It went smooth until the page requested for the mysql username and password. It kept saying it was incorrect, even after I made a new database and user.

Then, I decided to re-install Windows2003 Server and so I did. But in the end, I still got the same problem happening all over again. I have tried it for hundered times, but still didn't go thru. I'm kinda desperate right now...

Btw, I am using Mambo 4.5.2, IIS6, PHP 4.3.11, MySQL4.2.0 on my server.

Hope anyone can help us here...
Quick reply would be muchly appreciated.

Thank you.

Thumbs up Re: Installation problem on windows 2003 server and iis

Just to give back to the community some experience that I had to solve this problem.

If you are using Mysql 4.1.x you will encounter the user name and password being incorrect because for this version of MySQL does some sort of incription to the password. So to solve this is to change your my.ini in C:\windows and everywhere else (just in case). Add the word "old-passwords" under the [mysqld] and save.
(also be sure you create a db and a user for mambo beforehand). You should be able to pass install2.php.

Cheers n good luck

InitialHz

PS: another solution is to use older version of mySQL say (4.0.x) maybe and you should not bother with "old-passwords".

I'm facing this same problem of not going past install2.php. I have tried the suggestion by InitialHz but i'm still stuck. Just checking....you said "(also be sure you create a db and a user for mambo beforehand)" and i'm wondering do how would i create the db and user FOR MAMBO?..... could you or anyone show me how?.....

usually you create a user in mysql and a database in mysql and assign that user to the database. then when you're in your install you setup the pre-fix mos_ for the tables in that database.
