Bug, problem or just not a lucky day with 4.5.1? Hello all, i think i have a serious problem with my mambo 4.5.1a (last stable version)
I succesfully installed the mambo 4.5.1a on my linux web space and it works good, i patched it with te latests hole security and also activated the safe mode and ftp assist to upload files, everything seems to work properly with all the stuff that comes with the original package installation.
But the problem comes when I try to install a new components:
I discovered that when I use the "components" --> "Install" module, to update and install a new components, the mambo assign the propetery of the files and folders to the linux user "apache" and not to the same user of the ftp as it should (it should be able to get it as i use the FTP assist)
The problem is: the module succesfully install the components into the mambo, but after that i'm not able anymore to manage/delete/modify the files and/or the folders contained in that module.
For example this morning i tried to install the akogallery components on my mambo, the installation went fine, without any error, but when i tried to upload any pic into the akogallery image folder it said i have no privileges to write into that folder, that happened using the "upload picture akogallery module" and also with my "ftp client" then i connected to my web space using ssh, did a simple ls -l and got that RESULT: bash-2.00$ ls -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1 apache apache 9840 giu 5 02:08 akogallery.php
drwxr-xr-x 2 apache apache 4096 giu 5 02:08 images
drwxr-xr-x 2 apache apache 4096 giu 5 02:08 img_pictures
drwxr-xr-x 2 apache apache 4096 giu 5 02:08 img_thumbnails
drwxr-xr-x 2 apache apache 4096 giu 5 02:08 languages
(for these of you which don't know that: "apache" is the default user the system recognize when a web interface is used to install/update something into the system, but the mambo should install its own components telling the system to assign the propetery of the files to the same user of the FTP username, at least the previous version of mambo were able to do it"
then i was unable to put any picture into the right folders, as i had no privileges to write into these folders, and neither i was able to delete these folder
it also happened with others components, i tried to install (phpBB forum and others) but seems it happens with *all* the components i try to install. i also reinstalled mambo 4.5.1.a again from begin, but still have the problem.
so, does anyone know how can i use the "components ---> install" original module of mambo wihout have the property of the files and folders assigned to apache?
As i cannot login as "apache" i'm now not able to modify/delete/rename these files/folders. I still have doubt if that is a bug or it's me who did something wrong (but i doubt that, plus i don't have root access to the machine so i need to fix this problem)
Tnx anyone who feel to answer me trying to help out
regards,
