Question Changing live site settings

Hello,

I am a new guy so please be gentle

Ok so I have looked and looked and taken some of the suggestions, but I still have the problem.

I installed mambo like this :

www.mtsite.com/mambofolder, and started working on my mambo site that way. By doing that I was not messing with my standard site (www.mysite.com) while I was learning MAMBO.

Well, now I am ready to move my MAMBO site to the front and replace my normal site I.E. www.mysite.com/mambofolder -> www.mysite.com

But I can not for some reason get this to happen.

I Have tried the following,

1. Editing configurations.php, Live site setting to the new site address.....no dice.
2. Editing configurations.php, live site setting and live site path......no dice.

I do not have access to my http.conf file ( I saw this in a few other replys...) so...

Any suggestions ?

What kind of errors are you getting?
Have you checked the template for absolute links?

crash,

When I change to the line to just www.mysite.com then I just do not get anything when viewed in a browser.

The site in question is :

www.itowler.com
www.itowler.com/mambofolder

If you go to the /mambofolder site after the change then it appears as if it is missing the template, but the data is all there.....weird...

also, changing that live site in the configuration.php also messes with the admin pages a little bit as wel. It throws the menus off, the top menu is no longer there....but I can still get to most everything...

any ideas?

You should maintain the inherent structure... all the mambo files should moved to the root folder and the configuration file should reflect the change (if necessary). That should fix you all up!

No such thing as dumb questions...

Question Re: Changing live site settings

Guys I have followed these instructions however the image source have not been updated:
img src="/<test directory>/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/*

I what the img source to be components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/* however don't know where to make this change.

in the joomla admin interface product images are showing under
components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/*

however virtualmart does not appear to have picked up this change. any ideas? Thanks.
