I have a few categories with blog content accessed directly by links to blog category content archives organized by MOST RECENT DATE in v4.5.2. It works perfectly with the exception that if I haven't posted any new articles in a given month then it will show a message that there is no content.

What I would like to do is is limit the drop-down list to show ONLY those months with published content so that selecting the link would show my last blog published in March, for example, if the current month is April. I do this by archiving each blog entry right after each post. Currently, if the month is April, it auto-selects to show articles in April and if I haven't published any yet I get the "no content" text.

Preferably, once the user has viewed the last content entries for the given month, they have the option from the drop down list to view archives from previous months that ONLY contain content as opposed to having to toggle through various months and years to find additional archives.
