Default Could not find an XML setup file in the package

Upload module - Failed
Installation file not found:
/home/httpd/vhosts/publico.nl/httpdocs/cms/media/install_423eb0c0c6bcd/

Everytime when I try to upload in Mambo 4.5.2 a component, module or template I get this error. I see in different forums that many (new) people to mambo experience this same problem.
Can anybody help me out?

Fred,

Check if all the directories are chmodded like to used to be.
Mambo is unable to move the zipped file into a directorie where it can be unpacked. (I hope you are using the zipped files for installation )

Hello there,

All the directories are chmodded 777 and I use the zipped files to install. I also ran the safe-mode patch which didn't help. The error "Could not find an XML setup file in the package" keeps coming back.

Any other ideas?

Sadly, I have the same issue. I haven't been able to find anyone with a solution. I have done everything that has been recommended (install security patch & safe mode patch.)

THis is really preventing me from moving forward and exploring all the components and modules available to Mambo users.

Maybe someone would be willing to solve my problem for $$$. Any takers?

I'm not in it for the money ;-), but I recently ran into this and figured it out - posted here to let others see how to fix it.

I have an in-depth explanation on my blog.

I was trying to install Classifieds when I ran into this problem. Since then I have tried installing it on a separate and clean installaton of Mambo 4.5.1 and was successful in installing the componenet. My belief is that the security patch and safe mode patch interfered with the installation. My suggestion is to install before the security patch if you ran into any problem installing a component.

It seems that there is still traffic coming from the link I posted on my blog. Here's the updated link:

I turned off PHP Safe Mode in Plesk and this fixed it for me. To do this go to your client and modify the hosting setup, there is a checkbox beside php for safe mode, just uncheck it.
