ok im gonna answer my own question because i figured it out.

On your hosts server go to includes/footer.php

the contents of the file are:

change/erase the code that is red, and replace it with whatever you want.

I think quiquedcode is saying that we are not to remove the Mambo copyright from our site...
I'm not too sure about the legality issue, but, if Mambo is an open source CMS, there is no need to include the copyright... otherwise, our site will be full of "Copyright Apache", "Copyright PHP", "Copyright MySQL", etc etc

This isn't a definitive answer but I'm posting because I too would like to know if my interpretation is correct.

I have not removed any copyright from the source of any page. I have removed the copyright displayed in the footer as leaving it would indicate that the content / design of the site is Miro's which is clearly incorrect. It is my content, images and my template from scratch - it is my copyright.

So that's my take on it. Now does someone want to give us a definitive answer.

The easier way to remove the footer is taking out the call in the template. No legal matters involved here.
