Default Web Browsers hang

Under the following circumstances when I'm making changes to the site my browsers hang .. both IE and Forefox.

Front End:
  • Editing an article
  • Adding an article
  • Adding a document to DocMan

Back End
  • Making any alteration to any item in this area.
  • Tick a box to publish, add a user, add a content item edit anything change a component attribute.

This is on any number of computers on different ISP's on differnent bandwidths.

Server : Linux 2.4.20-021stab022.4.777-smp
OS : Windows XP Professional SP II or Windows 2000
Browser: IE 6.0.2800.1106 and Firefox 1.0

This is a real left field issue as I've got 10 other installs and no problems.

I've actually run into similar issues on my windows system in both Firefox and IE. I haven't seemed to have that issue on my Mac though. I haven't figured out how to handle it other than if I reload the page a few times or occasionally just restart my machine. My issue seems to be more along the lines of the drop downs not working in the admin area. I can get to anything that has a direct link but the links for the drop down menus will hang and not let you go to them.

If you check the "Remember Me" box when logging on do you still exprience the same problem? By checking this box it seemed to help some AOL users from having this problem, i.e. fix it for them.
