Default Admin is "dead slow"

Have a site with the following ...

• Front end navigation of the site and administration is fine.
• Front end adding or editing content times out or takes up to 5 minutes to save to the database.
• Back end admin rocks until you go to save and edit or add new content and the same issue applies.

I'm using HTMarea3 which if I switch it off to nothing makes no difference.

I've checked with my host and the logs and monitoring doesn't show any glitches.

I thought it may be the number of components installed (Help Desk, Comments, AKO_Staff, DocMan, Events, MAL, NXT Links, Site Map) but given that the rest of the site operation is ok I counted that out.

My thought is that adding data to the database is the issue as getting data from it works just fine.

Any ideas?

Bumpety bump

a) Have I described this in such a way that it is clear as mud?
b) Has no one ever experienced the same?
c) Is my problem seen as irrelivant?

With 4 Administrators 24 Publishers 200 Editors adding content (they have 5,000 items to add by the weeks end that aint gonna happen) and things timing out ... I'm getting burnt here.

This is real serious stuff ....

I am of the opinion that it is the code that adds the content to the database that is at issue here.

I tried to take the site off line for 5 minutes this morning.

You know Site > Global Configuration > Tick the yes radio button and save. Real simple stuff!

Well "5" minutes later and the page hadn't saved. 10 minutes later and the site went down (previewing it in another make of browser) I had to shut the browser down that the admin was open in, cos it wouldn't log out.

No it isn't my machine cos it's happening on over 250 computers in 40 locations using both IE and Firefox.

I've given my host real grief about this but the server is showing no overload issues.

you're not alone.. i'm having the same problems saving content... doesn't matter if it's from backend or frontend.

The only way I can save anything is by editing ON the server itself. I am running WAMP on my home computer so I can make changes that way.. just not remotely.

If only !!!

I'm about at the point of loosing big time .... my implementation time, my time and the editors/authors/admins staff training time to use the system, printed manuals, CD ROM videos of how to use the system.

I may have to trash the lot and use something else all at my expense. 6 months work down the gurgler.

I will admit that I am having the exact same problems. I have posted not only to forums at mamboserver.com, but also to the forums of opensourcematters.org, and still no luck. I suspect my problem to be that of my hosting company, but am unsure. If I can't get any answers, I may move to a hosting company that supports mambo, as to get more specialized help. Here's a link to my post, in hope that someone might be able to answer it, and in turn help you out... http://forum.opensourcematters.org/i...ic,1012.0.html

If you are having problems with saving try going into your configuration.php and changing your website address from http://yoursite.com to http://www.yoursite.com and it should fix the issue.

Also, make sure you change the htaccess.txt to .htaccess to ensure your menu and logins work.

It can be a html format problem. Take a moment on this test: On the area where the text is, clic the html button. If it´s blank, try to put your text directly there, with html tags.

Here it works, hope the same for you guys.

Problem solved for me!!

If the server is behind a firewall, check the Cross Site Scripting. Setting this to low security for the webserver solved the problem. The javascript was blocked by the firewall.

Try changing in your configuration.php file

Code:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://yoursite.com/filename'
to:

Code:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://www.yoursite.com/filename'
Edit: Oops! Didn't see the second page. Thought I had replied to this before LOL
