Default Noob question... How do I make it so the news on the front page are not so jumbled...

Basically I want them to line up as if it were like slahsdot or any other site basically. But for some reason once I have more than 2 news items on the front page it jumbles them.. for example:

Menu->Main Menu->Home(or whatever you called Home link) hit edit Home and go to Parameters tab.
Columns: 1 (instead 2 as default)
And if you wonna show more news on front page insead default put.
#intro 10

All on parametars tab of Home

Hope this is what you ask.
