Arrow Banner Rotation is not working

I have several websites on 4.5.1a and most of them will not display banners at all. The banner client is setup, the banner is published, the banner module is published, the template contains the banner code but the area where the banner should display is just blank.

Is there something I've missed??

I remember someone having this problem before & it was their firewall (NIS).

Well I am running Zone Alarm Pro but I've never had that problem with it. Also, I have a couple of sites where the banners ARE showing up.

Thanks for the additional information however.

Is it browser dependent? MSIE OK, Firefox not. Check the settings of FF "load images"-->"for the originating web site only". If checked, it might explain something....
Just a suggestion, may not be the cause.

Ok I tried it using the Firefox browser but its behaving the same way. What's weird now is that as I change templates, the banner will display on some and not on others.

For example, it will not display on the solarflare template or the JavaBean template but it will display on the AkoDarkGem template.

I feel like I'm losing my mind... lol

This is getting even more weird now. I stayed with the AkoDarkGem template just so I could make sure the banner is working, then I changed the top header of the template to display the client's website name instead of the mamboportal name. Then the banner rotation stopped displaying again. I even reverted back to the original ADG template again with NO modifications and the banner rotation is gone. I don't understand why its there and then its not.

Could you post an URL to examine? (I suspect template problems like wrong paired <div> and </div>'s.)

Ok this site is not live yet so its using the temporary url and I am beginning to suspect that to be the problem.

http://d8759653.u120.onsitetech.net/

I'm starting to see a pattern where all sites that are live and using a true domain name - the banners are displaying properly. The sites that are under construction and on temporary url's are not displaying the banners.

What I don't understand is why the banner would display and then stop displaying.

At least I did see a banner rotation of Oi! and empty space. So rotation is working and eliminates template problem. Maybe checkout banner management, what banner images are adressed and how the banners look like? In my FF page info, media properties it says: the second gif is 1px wide and high (empty gif?). It has also an unexpected image reference like this:

http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/sho...type=4&subid=0

Which appears to be an empty gif!

Custom bannercode might be the problem? (It overrides the image and URL chosen!)

I am using Linkshare banners. They give you the entire block of code to place into your banner location. I take this code and place it in the 'Custom banner code' box.

This is the code I'm pasting into the box:

Code:
<a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=/BandGwxpbw&offerid=43440.10000094&type=4&subid=0"><a><IMG border="0" width="1" height="1" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=/BandGwxpbw&bids=43440.10000094&type=4&subid=0">
When I do a view source of the page, this is what is displayed:

Code:
<td width="556" align="center" valign="middle">
<a href="index.php?option=com_banners&amp;task=click&amp;bid=2" target="_blank"></a> &nbsp;&nbsp;
</td>
No banner is displayed at all.

Normally, a Linkshare banner would be displayed like at this other website which is also mambo 4.5.1a and is using a 4.5.1 template version:
http://www.divacam.net/

I notice that when setting up a banner that uses the custom code box, mambo still forces me to select a banner so I have to select the Oi banner or the Ka-Ching banner and it also forces me to enter a target url so I enter a dot there (.) and that usually works even though I feel its a 'hack' that I have to teach my clients.

Right now the only thing I can hope for is that once the site is live on its actual domain name, that the banners will start showing up.
