Question Image Content As Module

I would like to place a piece of content on the right side of the front page.

As I understand working with Mambo, I need to have a module because modules can be positioned on a page layout as belonging to a position "left, right, userX, etc".

It would seem to me that I should be able to create a module by using one of the content operators in the same way that module is created when you create a new menu.

I want to create a custom piece of content (an image as a url) and place it on the right hand side of the front page and so far, the only way I see to do this is to actually create a formal module.

Your insight into how to do this is appreciated!

I believe you can be creative and creat your own module using the tutorial I found awhile back on Mamboportal.com. Watch the flash tutorial on this page. Flash movie: How to create HTML modules

Let me know if this helped you at all.

You might be able to call in the image you need and link with some third party banner rotator, or create a custom one with the banner advertiser within mambo. Just assign it's position.

I did this on our site, to link to patient care videos. Have a look at the
"Watch the Video" section on the right side of the page.

the simplest way to do this would be to edit the index.php file in the template you are using with simple html code or with a wysiwig editor like dreamweaver which can also handle alterations to the php code if needed.

It seems to me that you have answered your question
Under Module, go to Site Module, choose New and key in the html for the image and link and you should see it.

Hi,

I think arthur's tutorial opened my eyes to the "new" button on a module. In a big way. Thanks everyone.

However, I did write my own module (I have a programming background tho not in php). This gives you some very good control over the module behavior and it is really not hard to do (the mambo hut tutorial shows how to do this).

to be honest, I did not want to do my own module but now that I have done it, I am confident that I can drop into mambo some custom php code in a pinch.

Everyone should try to do this at least once.

THANKS TO EVERYONE. I REALLY LIKE THIS COMMUNITY!
