Question Modules and Components do not work. Help please

Hi,
First of all, I am very new to Mambo, so bear with me

I have almost read every post regarding modules and components.

My problem is not with the installation. I can easily install modules or components.

On the other hand, I can't make these modules or components get to work.
For example I installed a module called mod_anaclock2.zip. It is installed without any errors. I try to publish it on the site - it only shows the title which I HAD to type.

Any help is appreciated.

PS: This is the process:

Site Module Manager
> New
> Title: Clock
> Show title: Yes
> Position: left
> Module order: I CHOOSE ANALOG CLOCK 2
> Access Level: Public
> Published: Yes
> SAVE

I check to see if it works... on the web site, left hand corner.. I see the title: Clock

I do not change module positions and I do not touch module parameters (as they are default?)

Once again, thank you for your time

Hi Imambo,
after installation go to modules/site modules and look for a module like "ánaclock...". Edit module name, position, or whatever you want and publish. So you donīt have to create a new module. I guess, you only have to publish your already installed module.
Sincerely, Joern.

Question Re: Modules and Components do not work. Help please

Hi Joern,

Thanks for your feedback however when I go to modules/site modules - I do not see the modules I SUCCESSFULLY installed.

In this case, i successfully installed Analog Clock Module.. I did not only get the successfully installed message - continue - but also when I go to modules I can see it there as:

mod_anaclock Site Version 2.0 20 Aug 2004 etc...

Do you think this is a version issue related problem?

Every module I installed (sucessfully) has a different version compared to other modules 4.5.1:

mod_anaclock Site Version 2.0
mod_newsflashscroller_pro Site Version 2.0
mod_proverb Site Version 1.0
mod_WorldTime Site Version 1.0

So I am still lost...

Thanks

Hi Imambo,
your configuration should be o.k. Mod_ versions are given by the developers and normally there is no special association to a special mamboversion like. For each module you have to take care, that it is compatible with your mamboversion. In your case: anaclock2 ... 20.08.2004 should work with mambo 4.5.1. So whatīs the reason for your inconvinience with anaclock? One more choice: Did you install the flash-plugin in your browser? Anaclock needs flash-plugin, cause the clock is a .swf file. If itīs possible, post the url and i will have a joyride to your anaclock ;-)
Sincerely Joern

Hi Joern,

It works now. It is not the flash plug-in or anything. It is totally my silly mistake.

When I looked at Site Module Manager I only saw 10 installed modules... So obviously I did not see other installed modules listed:

mod_anaclock Site Version 2.0
mod_newsflashscroller_pro Site Version 2.0
mod_proverb Site Version 1.0
mod_WorldTime Site Version 1.0

Now is the funny part... I did not see them because I did disregard one small issue. Display # of results at the bottom of page...

Now that I PREFER to see all installed Modules (Display # 30) ...everything is fine...

That one is for the books...eh?

Once again thanks for your time, appreciate it..
