Default How does Mambo determine the 'home page'?

Where does mambo determine what it should display for its home page? If you go to http://.....mamboroot/index.php. I get the impression that it uses the first menu item in mainmain to drive this. Is this correct?

I ask this because I get different results if I hit my "Home" menu item than if I simply go to the mambo root page (index.php). Obviosly I want these to be the same.

Alright - one more level of oddity. The problem I really need to solve is that if I go to the Mambo root page (http://www.ottawatalentinitiative.ca/m2/index.php), I see the the "Read more..." item (and there is nothing more to see) and if I hit the Home menu item (http://www.ottawatalentinitiative.ca...page/Itemid,1/) I go to exactly the page content except the "Read more..." has disappeared.

Whatever you can tell me about how menus and default home pages are handled will be appreciated.

Your first item in the main menu is usualy your frontpage item

and about the "read more" thing you neeed to learn how to work with your editor. If you klick on a empty space in the second text box(optional text) and lat say you just hit enter this will result your news to present "read more" text.so make sure if you don't want " read more" text don't type anything in your otinal text field
